The William F. Spencer Funeral Service was established in 1896. At that time, most funerals were held in the home of the deceased. The business was conducted out of a storefront at 408 E. Broadway. We were the owners of two hearses and four horses that were used on all funerals.

In December of 1946, the operations were changed from 408 E. Broadway to our present location at 575 E. Broadway. This change was made due to the changing funeral customs. It had become the norm to have funerals held in the funeral home, and not the residence of the deceased.

For over a hundred years, the William F. Spencer Funeral Service has offered the people of Greater Boston dedicated, reliable and affordable funerals. At this time I, William F. Spencer, Jr. carry on that tradition that began in 1896.
