Obituary

Thomas Michael Pace, fondly known as Thom, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2026, at Tuft’s Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. Born in Boston on May 31, 1950, Tom’s life was rooted deeply in the city he loved, growing up in Readville and making his home for many years on Pill Hill in South Boston.

Thom’s journey through life was marked by his keen intellect, unwavering commitment to his community, and a humor that endeared him to all who knew him. He was a proud alumnus of Boston Latin School and went on to achieve his Master’s degree in Business from Northeastern University, a testament to his lifelong pursuit of knowledge and growth. His professional life was spent as an able Principal Administrative Assistant for the City of Boston Rental Housing Resource Center.  Tom often joked that while others may have worked for the City, he was merely employed there—a reflection of a wit and humility that touched many.

A true Bostonian to his core, Thom was always eager to engage in spirited debates about politics and history. His perspective was shaped by a broad education and a voracious appetite for books, which made him both a fascinating conversationalist and an invaluable friend. Tom’s love of travel took him to warmer climes in the winter months, particularly the Dominican Republic and Aruba, where he forged and maintained many lifelong friendships that brought him tremendous joy.

In his leisure time, Thom found pleasure behind the wheel of his beloved Mercedes convertible, cruising the streets of his cherished city and beyond. These simple pleasures, combined with his signature warmth and quick wit, enriched his life and the lives of those who accompanied him on his adventures.

Thom was devoted to his family and leaves behind his beloved wife, Linda L. Pace, his brother, Frank Pace; and his sister-in-law, Susan, and his nephew, Nicholas Lazar, also cousins and many friends.  He was preceded in death by his father, August Pupi, and his mother, Mary (Gerardi) .

Family and friends are invited to honor Thom’s life and legacy at a visitation on July 10, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at WM. F. Spencer Funeral Service, 575 E Broadway, South Boston, MA 02127. A Celebration of Life will follow immediately at the same location from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.

Thomas Michael Pace will be remembered for his intellect, his humor, and his steadfast devotion to those he loved and the city of Boston. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who were privileged to know him.
