Thomas P. Costello

Thomas P. Costello IV (Tom), 49, of South Weymouth, Massachusetts, passed away

peacefully at home on August 29, 2025, surrounded by love. His partner Meagan was at

his side, along with his sisters Maura and Erin, and his beloved niephlings—Thomas,

Ren, and Lyrik. He was born on August 23, 1976, in Laconia, New Hampshire.

Tom was passionate, proud, and endlessly creative. He was deeply devoted to his

family and friends, and known for his love of spirited debate, intelligent conversation,

and a lifelong curiosity about philosophy and the universe. A quick wit and a gifted

storyteller, Tom had a way of making people laugh, think, and feel deeply connected.

Professionally, Tom found great joy and pride in his work as a high-end finisher, creating

beautiful and intricate finishes in homes throughout the greater Boston area. His

craftsmanship and attention to detail earned him a stellar reputation in the world of high-

end construction, with his work featured in Boston design magazines. He worked for

Jessica Allred at Alternative Finishes for five years, and later joined Adams + Beasley

Associates, where he held the title of Master Finisher. Clients and colleagues alike

asked for Tom by name, trusting him to care for their homes with the same dedication

and precision he brought to every project.

Tom was a lifelong student of his craft, always pushing the boundaries of his own skills

and knowledge. He was an advocate for advancing women in the trades, and he was

proud to apprentice several very successful women—including Sonia and Katrina—who

have gone on to advance their own careers. He honored their accomplishments and

cheered them on every chance he had. Tom was also deeply proud of his apprentice

Dave, whose growth and dedication he admired. The time he spent as their mentor was

some of the most fulfilling time he spent in his professional life.

Family was incredibly important to Tom. He valued his relationships with his siblings

above all others and created a unique bond with each of them. He did the same for

each of his friends. Tom had a way of making each person he knew feel seen and

valued, and each of us felt we knew him uniquely. He will be deeply missed.

Tom is survived by his mother, Ruth Costello of Laconia, NH; his partner, Meagan

McCarthy of Weymouth, MA; his siblings, Maura Costello of Burlington, VT; Kellie

Costello of Windsor Locks, CT, and her partner Dave Gecinceis; Matthew Costello of

Gilford, NH; Erin Costello of Weymouth, MA; and Kyle Costello of Portland, ME, and his

wife Angel Costello. He is also survived by his cherished niephlings: Thomas P. Costello

V and Ren Costello, children of Matthew; and Lyrik Costello, child of Erin.

In lieu of funeral services, an end-of-life celebration will be held at a future date.
