Born and raised in Dorchester, Steve was a lifelong resident before moving to Weymouth 9 years ago. He was educated in Boston Public Schools, graduated from South Boston High School in 1970, and attended Boston State College. A gifted artist and athlete, he volunteered in his youth at the Little House in Dorchester and coached and played Boston Park League Football for the Hanna Club.
Prior to their closing, Steve worked for many years at Sears Roebuck in Boston. He then moved on to the MBTA, retiring as a Red Line Inspector in 2009. He was a member of The Carmen's Union Local 589 and Local 600 and a former member of Teamsters Local 25. He also worked at several neighborhood bars, including the Irish Whisper in South Boston and Bulldog's in Savin Hill.
Steve will be fondly remembered for his love of storytelling and his unique sense of humor. In his younger years, he was a skilled handyman and enjoyed working on his Cadillac's and Mercedes, as well as restoring computers, guitars, and World War II memorabilia. More recently, he enjoyed entertaining from home, cooking and sharing meals with family and friends, especially the four-legged ones.
