Marie Rose Marshman

Marie Rose Marshman, (McGonagle), passed away in Boston, Massachusetts, peacefully on October 10, 2026, after a long illness.

Marie was the beloved wife of the late Gerald (Jerry) Marshman and dear mother of Bernard Goodman of Boston, Jean Goodman of Hingham, Tracey Goodman of Dorchester, Brian Goodman and his wife Kathleen of South Boston, and Jarrod Marshman and his wife Catherine of South Boston. She was also a loving grandmother to Brian and Mark Goodman, Michael and Colin Devine, Whitney Joyce, Hayden Lee, Mckenna Goodman, Hannah and Gerald (Jerry) Marshman. Marie was the proud great-grandmother of ten great-grandchildren and the loving Aunt to many Nieces and Nephews. Her family will remember her with love and gratitude, and her presence will continue to be felt across the generations she helped shape.

Born in Boston on November 5, 1940, Marie remained deeply connected to the city throughout her life and was a lifelong resident of South Boston, a community she loved dearly and was proud to call home. Marie was devoted to the catholic faith and a proud parishioner of St Brigid's Church. She was known for her deep pride in her family roots, her sharp wit, and the care she took in her appearance and presentation. She had a remarkable ability to let her inner child shine, filling gatherings with laughter, banter, and mischief.

Marie was the proud sister to Janice Aughe and her husband Gerard; the late Patricia Norton and her late husband Michael; her late brother Kenneth “Buddy” McGonagle and his wife Kay; her late brother Donald “Donny” McGonagle and his wife Marylin “Mal”; her late brother Paul McGonagle and his late wife Mary; her late brother Daniel “Danny” McGonagle; her late brother Robert “Bobby” McGonagle; and her late sister Kathleen “Kathy” McGonagle. Their loving memories remained part of the family story she carried with her throughout her life.

Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing on Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at WM. F. Spencer Funeral Service, 575 E Broadway, South Boston, MA 02127. A Mass will be held  at 11:30 AM in St. Brigid’s Church, 841 E. Broadway, South Boston, MA 02127.
