Kathryn (Kate) Annette Buckley left this planet on May 21, 2025. She has joined her husband of 35 years, Dennis Gagne, her beloved sister, Mary (Buckley) Pettiford, baby brother Richard (Dickie) Grant and her daughter Elice (Lisa) Hawkins.
She left far to many family members and friends to list here but she loved them all, and even those that had fallen to the wayside over the years, she spoke of the good times with fondness and she missed what they had.
Kate lived a full life and most importantly she lived it on her terms, no compromises of her beliefs and values to appease those who did not agree with her. She lived in El Paso Texas, Astoria Oregon, lived her years with Dennis in New Durham and Wolfeboro New Hampshire finally making her home in Fort Myers Florida. She created a fun-filled life with jazz music on Wednesdays with her dear friend Emily and spent every Sunday at her kind of church: The Buckingham Blues Bar where she nursed one beer all afternoon and shushed anyone who talked too loudly as she was there to listen to music.
Kate was determined to be an anatomical donor, leaving her body behind to medical students so they could learn their trade on a human cadaver, rather than those “horrible” orange dummies. Part of that plan was to avoid anyone seeing her after death and requested no services or memorial services. She did have one message to pass on to those who loved her: please consider anatomical donation.
Kate will be missed, and this world will be a quieter place without her. We’ll all see her on the other side.
