James Francis Conley

James “Jim” Conley passed away suddenly while at the Greendale YMCA, leaving his family and many friends heartbroken by his unexpected loss. Jim was the devoted husband and best friend of Kristina “Cookie” Flink Conley, with whom he shared 42 years of love, laughter, and adventure. Together they enjoyed traveling and creating treasured memories wherever life took them. For the past 10 years, Jim and Cookie were snowbirds in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Jim welcomed his time spent in Florida and had many happy days on the golf course with friends that he came to cherish deeply. In his younger years, Jim was an avid runner and skier, embracing an active lifestyle and a love of the outdoors. Later in life, he found joy on the golf course, reading his portable library on his Kindle as well as exploring history and current affairs. Whether in Massachusetts or Florida, he was endlessly curious, enjoyed thoughtful conversations, and never passed up the opportunity to share—or appreciate—a good joke.

Jim spent many dedicated years working at Norton Company before beginning a second career as a Correctional Counselor at the Department of Corrections in Lancaster and Framingham, MA. He approached both careers with commitment, integrity, and a strong work ethic.

Among Jim’s favorite daily rituals were meeting his friends for coffee at the Greendale YMCA, where conversation, laughter, and camaraderie were as important as the coffee itself. He valued friendship deeply and leaves behind countless people—both in Massachusetts and in Port St. Lucie—whose lives were enriched by his kindness, intelligence, wit, and genuine interest in others.

In addition to his beloved wife, Cookie, Jim is survived by his brother-in-law, Karl Flink; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.

A celebration of life will be held at a future date to be announced.
