Ellen S. (Sister Hodges) Oakley

Ellen S. (Sister Hodges) Oakley, age 92, resident of South Boston, MA, recently of Covington, LA, passed away on February 23, 2023. She was born on December 6, 1930 in South Boston, MA to Joseph Hodges and Elizabeth (Quierdo) Hodges. Ellen is survived by her beloved husband of 71 years Ralph E. Oakley; her children Bryan Oakley, and his wife Lisa of Sharon, MA and Barry Oakley, and his wife Patricia of Covington, LA. Ellen was a devoted grandmother of Jennifer and her husband Jared Weissbrot and their children Penina, Nechama, Esti and Herbie; Caitlin and her husband Scott Ness and their children Parker and Levi; Danielle Oakley, her partner Bryan Murphy and her children Alexa and Saige Hurt; Matthew Oakley and his partner Erin McDonnell; and Helena Oakley and her partner Ryan Buckley. She is also survived by her sister Betty Hodges, her sister-in-law Vita Hodges, and many nieces and nephews. Ellen is preceded in death by her parents and her siblings Mary, Joe, William, and Evelyn. Ellen was born and raised in South Boston. She, along with her husband Ralph, was a past member of the Castle Island Association, South Boston Senior Neighborhood House, and Dorchester Couples Bowling League.
