Eileen G. Rumble

Eileen G. (Shanley) Rumble of Boston passed away suddenly on October 21, 2026, at Boston Medical Center. She was 63. Born on December 13, 1964, in Boston, she was educated in the Boston schools and remained deeply connected to the city throughout her life.

Eileen was known as a cheerful and helpful woman whose warmth was felt by family, friends, and all who knew her. She worked as an Administrative Assistant for the City of Boston EDIC, bringing that same steady spirit and willingness to help to her professional life.

She took great joy in the people and places that meant the most to her. Eileen loved going to the South Boston Yacht Club, where she was always ready to lend a hand with barbecues and other events. She was also the unofficial photographer for the L Street Brownies, one of the oldest polar bear swimming clubs in the country, preserving moments and memories with care. She also enjoyed stopping in at the L Street Tavern and the Eire Pub, with her husband Ron where she could catch up with friends and share in the easy fellowship she treasured.

Above all, Eileen’s proudest accomplishment was her family, especially her grandchildren, who brought her immense happiness. She was the beloved wife and best friend of Ron Rumble. She was a devoted mother to Charles John Rumble and his wife, Rachel, of Danvers, and a dear grandmother to Liam and Avi. Beloved Daughter of Mary E. (Fitzhenry) Shanley. She also leaves her devoted sisters, Mary Shanley and Jane Shanley, who were an important part of her life.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Annmarie O'Donnell and Her Father Michael J. Shanley.
